4.1 General information

In order to make the visit to our website attractive and to enable the use of certain functions, we use technologies including so-called cookies on various pages. Cookies are small text files that are automatically stored on your terminal device. Some of the cookies we use are deleted at the end of the browser session, i.e. after you close your browser (so-called session cookies). Other cookies remain on your terminal device and enable us to recognize your browser on your next visit (persistent cookies).

4.2 Protecting the privacy of terminal equipment

When using our online offer, we use absolutely necessary technologies in order to be able to provide the expressly requested telemedia service. The storage of information in your terminal device or access to information that is already stored in your terminal device does not require consent in this respect.

For functions that are not absolutely necessary, the storage of information in your terminal device or access to information that is already stored in your terminal device requires your consent. Through these technologies, IP address, time of visit, device and browser information, and information about your use of our website (e.g., information about your preferences) are collected and processed. Within the framework of a balancing of interests, this serves overriding legitimate interests in an optimized presentation of our offer in accordance with Art. 6 Para. 1 p. 1 lit. f GDPR.

In addition, we use technology to comply with legal obligations to which we are subject (e.g., to be able to demonstrate consent to the processing of your personal data) and for web analytics and online marketing. 5.1 Use of Google services

We use the technologies of Google Ireland Ltd, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (“Google”), as described below. The information automatically collected by Google technologies about your use of our website is usually transferred to a server of Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway Mountain View, CA 94043, USA and stored there. For the USA, there is no adequacy decision of the European Commission. Our cooperation with them is based on standard data protection clauses of the European Commission. Unless otherwise specified for the individual technologies, data processing is carried out on the basis of an agreement concluded for the respective technology between jointly responsible parties in accordance with Art. 26 DSGVO. Further information about data processing by Google can be found in Google’s privacy policy.

5.1.1 Google Analytics

For the purpose of website analysis, Google Analytics automatically collects and stores data (IP address, time of visit, device and browser information, and information about your use of our website), from which usage profiles are created using pseudonyms. Cookies can be used for this purpose. If you visit our website from the EU, your IP address is stored on a server located in the EU to derive location data and then immediately deleted before the traffic is forwarded to further servers of Google for processing. Data processing is carried out on the basis of an agreement on commissioned processing by Google.

For the purpose of optimized marketing of our website, we have activated the data sharing settings for “Google products and services”. This allows Google to access the data collected and processed by Google Analytics and subsequently use it to improve Google’s services. Data sharing with Google under these data sharing settings is based on an additional agreement between data controllers. We have no influence on the subsequent data processing by Google.

To create and run tests, we also use the Google Analytics Google Optimize extension feature.

For the purpose of optimized marketing of our website, we use the so-called user ID function. This feature allows us to assign a unique, permanent ID to your interaction data for one or more sessions on our websites and thus analyze your user behavior across devices and sessions.

For web analysis, the Google Analytics Google Signals extension function enables so-called “cross-device tracking”. Insofar as your Internet-enabled devices are linked to your Google account and you have activated the “personalized advertising” setting in your Google account, Google can create reports about your usage behavior (in particular, cross-device user numbers), even if you change your terminal device. We do not process any personal data in this respect; we only receive statistics compiled on the basis of Google Signals.

For web analysis and advertising purposes, the extension function of Google Analytics enables the so-called DoubleClick cookie to recognize your browser when visiting other websites. Google will use this information to compile reports on website activity and to provide other services related to website usage.

5.1.2 Google AdSense

Our website markets space for third-party ads through Google AdSense. These ads will be displayed to you in various places on this website. Via the so-called DoubleClick cookie, the display of interest-based advertising is made possible by the collection and processing of data (IP address, time of visit, device and browser information, as well as information about your use of our website) and the automatic assignment of a pseudonymous UserID, which is used to determine interests based on visits to this and other websites.

5.1.3 Google Ads

For advertising purposes in Google search results as well as on third-party websites, the so-called Google Remarketing Cookie is set when you visit our website, which automatically enables interest-based advertising by collecting and processing data (IP address, time of visit, device and browser information as well as information about your use of our website) and by means of a pseudonymous CookieID and based on the pages you visit. Data processing beyond this only takes place if you have activated the “personalized advertising” setting in your Google account. In this case, if you are logged in to Google while visiting our website, Google uses your data together with Google Analytics data to create and define target group lists for cross-device remarketing.

For website analytics and event tracking, we use Google Ads Conversion Tracking to measure your subsequent usage behavior when you have arrived at our website via a Google Ads ad. For this purpose, cookies may be used and data (IP address, time of visit, device and browser information, and information about your use of our website based on events specified by us, such as visiting a website or subscribing to a newsletter) may be collected, from which usage profiles are created using pseudonyms.

5.1.4 Google Maps

For the visual presentation of geographical information, Google Maps collects data about your use of the Maps functions, in particular the IP address as well as location data, transmits them to Google and subsequently processes them by Google. We have no influence on this subsequent data processing.

5.1.5 Google reCAPTCHA

For the purpose of protection against misuse of our web forms as well as against spam by automated software (so-called bots), Google reCAPTCHA collects data (IP address, time of visit, browser information as well as information about your use of our website) and carries out an analysis of your use of our website by means of a so-called JavaScript as well as cookies. In addition, other cookies stored by Google services in your browser are evaluated. No personal data is read out or stored from the input fields of the respective form.

5.1.6 Google Tag Manager

Through Google Tag Manager, we can manage various codes and services on our website. When implementing the individual tags, Google may also process personal data (e.g. IP address, online identifiers (including cookies)). Data processing is carried out on the basis of an agreement on commissioned processing by Google. By using Google Tag Manager, integration of various services/technologies can be achieved. If you do not wish to use individual tracking services and have therefore deactivated them, the deactivation remains in place for all affected tracking tags that are integrated by the Google Tag Manager.

5.1.7 YouTube video plugin

To integrate third-party content, data (IP address, time of visit, device and browser information) is collected via the YouTube video plugin in the extended data protection mode used by us, transmitted to Google and subsequently processed by Google only when you play a video.

The Facebook Pixel automatically collects and stores data (IP address, time of visit, device and browser information, and information about your use of our website based on events specified by us, such as visiting a website or subscribing to a newsletter), from which usage profiles are created using pseudonyms. In addition, as part of the so-called extended data matching, information that can be used to identify individuals (e.g., names, e-mail addresses, and telephone numbers) is collected and stored in a hashed form for matching purposes. For this purpose, a cookie is automatically set by the Facebook Pixel when you visit our website, which automatically enables recognition of your browser when visiting other websites by means of a pseudonymous CookieID. Facebook (by Meta) will combine this information with other data from your Facebook account and use it to compile reports on website activity and to provide other services related to website use, in particular personalized and group-based advertising.

The joint responsibility is limited to the collection of the data and its transmission to Meta Platforms Ireland. The subsequent data processing by Meta Platforms Ireland is not covered by this.

Based on the statistics about visitor activity on our website generated via Facebook Pixel, we operate via Facebook Custom Audience group-based advertising on Facebook (by Meta) by determining the characteristics of each target group. In the context of the extended data matching that takes place to determine the respective target group (see above), Facebook (by Meta) acts as our processor.
